Introducing the man who gave us the dashing hero Norman Conquest as well as Scotland Yard's brilliant, if disreputable, Chief Inspector "Ironsides" Cromwell. Edwy Searles Brooks' first story was published in 1907 when he was 18. From that time until his death in 1965, he wrote over 100 novels and more than 2000 other stories. Under the pen-name of Berkeley Gray, he gave us the Norman Conquest novels and as Victor Gunn he wrote the "Ironsides" Cromwell books. From 1915 to 1933, he contributed over a thousand Nelson Lee stories, the majority featuring St Frank's, the school he invented and named after his wife, Frances.
